How long before a fractured cheekbone is inoperable

A fractured cheekbone is usually not good enough for surgery after two weeks.

There is generally a time limit for fracture surgery. For most of the fracture patients, if the injury is more than 2 weeks, the localized fracture will be transformed into an old fracture, and there will be hyperplastic scabs at the fracture end, which will lead to the difficulty of resetting as well as fixation.

In addition, prolonged fracture time may induce a series of complications such as postoperative infection or prolonged fracture healing.

However, for the elderly patients, due to the slow healing of the fracture, surgery can still be performed in 2-4 weeks. For infants or adolescents, the optimal time for surgical treatment may be missed in 1 to 2 weeks.
