A small amount of bleeding but not menstruation may be ovulatory bleeding, or it may be caused by diseases such as pelvic inflammatory disease and uterine fibroids.
1. Ovulatory bleeding: refers to a small amount of uterine bleeding that occurs between two normal menstrual periods, except for bleeding during sexual intercourse. In most cases, patients bleed less or only spot bleeding, usually lasts for 2-3 days will be relieved by itself, may be accompanied by pain or discomfort in the lower abdomen. From there, it manifests as a small amount of bleeding but not menstruation.
2. Pelvic inflammatory disease: It is a common disease in women, referring to the inflammation caused by the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries and other reproductive organs or surrounding organs. It mainly manifests as lower abdominal pain, falling sensation, abnormal leukorrhea, vaginal bleeding, fever and other symptoms. It can also manifest as a small amount of bleeding but not menstruation.
3. Uterine fibroid: It is the most common benign tumor in female reproductive organs, which is composed of smooth muscle and connective tissue. Patients are mostly asymptomatic, while those with symptoms mainly show increased menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual period, and irregular vaginal bleeding, which may be accompanied by lower abdominal masses, increased leukorrhea and other symptoms.
There are many other causes of small amount of bleeding but not menstruation, which should be taken seriously to identify the cause of the disease and follow the doctor’s advice for further treatment or therapy.
