Is it normal to have a bowel movement twice a day?

If the color, shape and amount of stool are normal, and no other physical discomfort, two bowel movements a day is usually normal, but also need to be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. The normal stool is brown or dark brown banana-shaped soft stool, adult stool once a day is the best, twice is also considered normal, but at most no more than three times, more than three times for the stool is too much, is an abnormal phenomenon. If the original bowel movement is very regular, the number of bowel movements suddenly increases to twice a day, accompanied by bloody stools, dizziness, panic attacks and other manifestations, mostly due to lower gastrointestinal bleeding. If the stool is thin and watery, it may be due to diarrhea or acute enteritis caused by food poisoning. If the stool is more frequent and white clay in color, it may be caused by jaundice, stones, tumors, roundworms, etc. that lead to biliary tract obstruction. If the patient has been maintaining a bowel movement cycle of twice a day, there is usually no need to worry too much. However, if there is a sudden change in the bowel pattern or abnormal stool pattern, it is necessary to visit the gastroenterology department in a timely manner to identify the cause and provide symptomatic treatment.
