What are the symptoms of hydronephrosis?

Hydronephrosis is often associated with urinary tract obstruction. The primary cause of urinary tract obstruction, the location, degree and duration of obstruction determine that the clinical manifestations of hydronephrosis vary greatly, and may even be completely asymptomatic.
1. Acute obstruction of upper urinary tract: renal colic, nausea, vomiting, hematuria and renal pressure, etc. are often seen. Chronic obstruction of the upper urinary tract often develops slowly, and the symptoms are not obvious or only vague pain and discomfort in the waist, when it develops into a huge hydronephrosis, a mass may appear in the abdomen; for example, hydronephrosis caused by congenital stenosis of pelvic ureteral junction.
2. Lower urinary tract obstruction: the main manifestation of urinary difficulties and bladder emptying obstacles, and even urinary retention, while causing hydronephrosis symptoms often appear later, clinical manifestations of different degrees of renal function damage.
3. If hydronephrosis is complicated by infection, it will be manifested as acute pyelonephritis, with chills, high fever, lumbago and bladder irritation. If the obstruction is not relieved, the infected hydronephrosis is difficult to cure, or may develop into abscess kidney, the abdomen may find a mass, the patient often has fever and emaciation.
4. If the urinary tract obstruction is not relieved for a long time, it will lead to the decrease or even loss of renal function on the side of obstruction. Isolated kidney or bilateral upper urinary tract complete obstruction may appear anuria, renal failure.
