San’ao Tang is formulated as ephedra, licorice, almonds, each equal parts, ground into a coarse powder, each dose of five coins, plus five slices of ginger, water decoction. There is no such thing as “special effects”. San’ao Tang is a traditional Chinese medicine formula first recorded in Taiping Huimin Hejian Bufang (太平惠民和剂局方), consisting of ephedra (without root and joints), licorice (without roasted), and almonds (without skin tip), which is effective in dispersing wind and promoting the lungs, relieving coughs, and calming asthma, but has no “special effects”. Clinically, it can be used to treat symptoms such as cold and wind, nasal congestion, cough, chest tightness and speechlessness. The adverse effects of San’ao Tang are not clear, and it is contraindicated for those who are allergic to the above drugs. The dosage and proportion of San’ao Tang can be flexibly adjusted according to the condition of the patient, and should be taken under the guidance of a doctor to avoid unauthorized use.
