Blepharospasm is caused by prolonged exposure of the bulbar conjunctiva of the blepharospasm to external stimuli or age-related degeneration. Most patients with blepharospasm are mild and their condition develops slowly, so no treatment is needed. Patients with large lesions and recurrent inflammation can be treated with conservative treatment, medication and surgery. 1. Conservative treatment: if patients with blepharospasm are suffering from eye discomfort caused by external environmental stimuli, they generally do not need any special treatment, and can be gradually relieved after they are far away from the adverse environment. 2. Medication: If blepharospasm patients suffer from secondary eye infections, they can use tobramycin eye drops, erythromycin ophthalmic ointment and other medications as prescribed by the doctor to control the inflammation and relieve the eye discomfort. 3. Surgical treatment: If patients have repeated eye inflammation and it affects the appearance, patients can undergo surgical treatment, such as blepharospasm excision, which separates the blepharospasm from subconjunctival tissues and then removes them so as to realize the purpose of treatment. It is recommended that patients with blepharospasm be seen in a timely manner to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
