According to research data, about 60% of cerebral infarction patients in China are caused by insufficient blood supply to the brain due to carotid stenosis, and carotid stenosis has become one of the “number one killers” that endangers human health and seriously affects people’s physical health. In general, the degree of carotid artery stenosis varies, and the clinical symptoms are also very different. In mild carotid stenosis, symptoms such as dizziness and headache, weakness of limbs and memory loss usually occur, while in severe carotid stenosis, serious symptoms such as cerebral infarction and coma can occur. The current treatment methods for carotid stenosis include medication and surgical intervention. Drug treatment is mainly through some anti-platelet drugs, statin lipid-lowering drugs, etc., which can only play the role of stabilizing the plaque and reducing the risk of cerebral ischemia occurrence, but cannot fundamentally remove the plaque. Therefore, further surgical procedures are needed to treat carotid stenosis. The standard surgery for the treatment of carotid artery stenosis is now generally recognized by the national medical community as carotid endarterectomy. Does carotid artery dissection have a high success rate? In fact, carotid endarterectomy is a very mature technique. The entire procedure is performed under a microscope, and the endothelium of the artery is peeled off and removed, so that the inner wall of the carotid artery is smooth and the inner diameter is restored to its normal size, effectively restoring the blood flow in the carotid artery and preventing the occurrence of stroke. Currently, carotid endarterectomy has become a standard procedure for the treatment of carotid stenosis and prevention of cerebral infarction.
