Carotid stenosis is a chronic condition that does not heal on its own, but can be cured. With early diagnosis and intervention, the prognosis is generally good and will not affect life expectancy. In the absence of a severe stroke episode, no sequelae usually occur. Carotid artery stenosis has the potential to recur and should be actively prevented.
