Patients may get stuck inside their throat while taking the capsule. It is recommended that patients immediately swallow down with warm water, which can effectively play a role in melting the capsule shell and alleviating the foreign body sensation in the patient’s throat. After about 5-10 minutes of active treatment, the foreign body feeling in the patient’s throat should improve. Patients are also advised not to use hard objects to move down the throat, which can especially easily lead to scratching of the mucosa of the throat or the esophageal mucosa and aggravate the patient’s foreign body sensation. Sometimes the capsule is intestinal soluble and often needs to be digested inside the intestine. Patients need to go to the hospital and let the doctor take it out, either with indirect laryngoscopy or fiberoptic laryngoscopy, or in serious cases, surgery is required to solve the problem.
