Probability of recurrence of cerebral infarction

Cerebral infarction has a high recurrence rate, but there is a lack of serial studies on the recurrence rate of stroke in China.
Cerebral infarction is a disease with high morbidity, mortality, disability and recurrence rates, but there is a lack of continuous studies on the recurrence rate of stroke in China.
The results of the China National Stroke Registry Study conducted from 2007 to 2008 showed that the 3-month recurrence rate of ischemic stroke patients aged 18 years and older in China was 10.9%, and the 1-year recurrence rate was 14.75%.
The national multicenter CHANCE study conducted from 2009 to 2012 showed that the 3-month ischemic cerebrovascular disease recurrence rate was 9.7%; the results of the PRINCE study conducted from 2015 to 2017 showed that the 3-month ischemic cerebrovascular disease recurrence rate was 6.8%.
Patients with cerebral infarction need to actively control the factors that may cause recurrence, and use antiplatelet aggregation (e.g., clopidogrel, cilostazol, etc.) or anticoagulant drugs (e.g., warfarin, rivaroxaban) and lipid regulating drugs (e.g., atorvastatin calcium, resuvastatin calcium, etc.) in accordance with the doctor’s prescription in the long term, so that they can do a good job of secondary prevention and prevent recurrence.
To summarize, the recurrence rate of cerebral infarction is high, patients need to follow the doctor’s instructions to actively control, the use of drugs should be used under the guidance of the doctor.
