What to do if your ears are blocked with a cold

Cold and blocked ears are caused by nasal congestion when the upper respiratory tract is infected. When the patient’s nose is not ventilated the eustachian tube can also be blocked, thus causing negative pressure in the middle ear causing blockage of the ear. In this case, the following methods can be used to treat the problem: 1. take some anti-inflammatory medication orally, or use 1-2 drops of levofloxacin ear drops in the ear. 2. apply a hot towel to the root of the bridge of the nose or use a hair dryer to blow on both sides of the nose. 3. press the ear with the palm of your hand for a few seconds and then gradually release it, repeating this repeatedly to change the pressure in the middle ear.
