If mild ST segment depression is caused by physiological factors such as emotional excitement, it is not scary; if it is caused by pathologic reasons such as digitalis intoxication and ischemic heart disease, it may cause serious harm and requires timely consultation.
1. Physiological factors: when position change, emotional excitement, smoking, hyperventilation and other behaviors occur, physiological changes such as sympathetic nerve excitation may occur, which leads to electrocardiogram ST-segment changes, which are in various forms, including ST-segment depression or accompanied by T-wave flattening, bi-directional and inversion, etc. Usually there are no obvious clinical manifestations, and can be relieved after rest, usually without serious harm.
2. Pathological factors: when digitalis intoxication, ischemic heart disease, electrolyte disorders, paroxysmal tachycardia and other diseases, ST-segment depression of different forms will occur. At the same time may also be accompanied by diarrhea and vomiting, discomfort or pain in the precordial area, numbness of the limbs, palpitations and other discomforts, need to go to the hospital in a timely manner in order to avoid the occurrence of heart failure, shock and other serious complications.
If the ST segment pattern of ECG is abnormal, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time.
