Most viral colds in children can be cured on their own and do not require medication. Coughing is the body’s normal way of expelling germs, and medication is generally not recommended. If symptoms are severe enough to affect normal life, cough suppressants such as dextromethorphan and ambroxol can be used as prescribed by the doctor.
