Hyperlipidemia generally refers to high plasma triglycerides (TG) and cholesterol (TC), indicating an overload of plasma lipids, increased blood viscosity, and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. High blood lipids may indicate that the patient may have too much cholesterol in the diet, excessive obesity, old age, etc. It may also indicate that the patient suffers from certain diseases that affect lipid metabolism, such as diabetes mellitus and hypothyroidism. High lipid content in the blood makes it easy for lipids to be deposited in the walls of blood vessels, forming atherosclerosis and increasing the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. People with high blood lipids should pay attention to a healthy diet to ensure a balanced distribution of calories in the three meals; cereals as the main food, coarse and fine with; more consumption of soybean products, to improve the utilization rate of protein; eat more fresh fruits and dark green vegetables; moderate alcohol consumption, less sugar-containing beverages.
