What is chronic conjunctivitis?

Chronic inflammatory reaction of the conjunctiva, a normal tissue structure of the eye, is called chronic conjunctivitis, which is also a classification for conjunctivitis that has been present for more than three weeks. Conjunctivitis is usually caused by infection with pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria or by an immune response. The main clinical manifestations are conjunctival congestion and other reactions, such as the presence of follicles, papillae, and subconjunctival hemorrhage. Patients may experience pain, itching, and foreign body sensation. For patients with chronic conjunctivitis, the main manifestations are persistent foreign body sensation in the eye and increased secretion. Most patients have certain bad lifestyle and dietary habits, such as eating spicy and stimulating foods or smoking and drinking, which makes it difficult to recover from chronic inflammation, and patients with low immunity are also common. So the main treatment for this type of disease is to strengthen the immune system. The common way to recover from chronic inflammation is to use Chinese herbal medicine, along with some antibiotics for a short period of time. Recovery from chronic conjunctivitis itself takes a long time, and the use of proper medication and adherence to it is very crucial.
