Prostate hypertrophy is a common disease in middle-aged and old-aged people, which is prevalent in men over 50 years old. Clinical manifestations are mainly frequent urination at night, usually more than two times at night, and there are urinary inactivity, waiting for urine, incomplete urination and so on. When the above symptoms are combined with urinary ultrasound, the diagnosis can often be confirmed. The treatment of enlarged prostate is firstly based on medication, including traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine. Commonly used drugs to treat prostate hypertrophy are Polyjuice, Masani, Wanlitong capsule, or Prostabixi capsule. When medication is ineffective and cannot control the symptoms well, surgical treatment can be considered. Currently, the main surgical method is transurethral prostatectomy, which is able to cut the hyperplastic prostate tissue electrically, thus improving the defecation dysfunction.
