The development of road traffic and transportation has led to a rapid increase in the incidence and mortality of trauma and has forced many primary care hospitals to deal with an increasing number of victims of traffic and other catastrophic accidents. Because of the many differences between developed and developing countries, it would be beneficial to establish a specialized primary trauma care program. These differences include: the long distances injured people have to travel to reach hospitals; the time it takes for injured people to receive treatment; the lack of advanced technical instruments and equipment in developing countries; and the lack of highly qualified medical personnel.
