The clinical symptoms of crooked mouth and slanted eyes are considered to be caused by two factors: First, it should be considered to be caused by cerebrovascular disease, seen in middle-aged and elderly patients who often have risk factors such as cerebral arteriosclerosis and cerebral vascular stenosis, as well as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, and bad habits such as smoking and alcohol consumption, which may be caused by cerebrovascular disease. In addition to the symptoms of crooked mouth and slanted eyes, patients may also have symptoms such as unfavorable speech and numbness of the limbs. It is necessary to visit a hospital for a head CT examination to clarify whether it is caused by cerebral hemorrhage or cerebral infarction, and then to provide symptomatic treatment. Secondly, peripheral facial neuritis should be considered. Damage to the nerve on one side of facial palsy will lead to muscle paralysis, which will result in drooping corners of the mouth, shallow nasolabial folds, shallow forehead lines, and enlarged eye fissures on the affected side, and patients will have air leakage when doing cheek puffing, and may have stored rice when eating. Treatment is mainly for the acute phase, and treatment to nourish the facial nerve and reduce facial nerve edema is given.
