Patients with cirrhosis and splenectomy who have not developed ascites or hepatic encephalopathy can supplement protein powder in moderation. However, if they have developed hepatic encephalopathy, they should not supplement protein powder in large quantities. Whether cirrhotic patients can eat protein powder after splenectomy should be analyzed according to the patient’s specific situation. If the patient’s cirrhosis is in the compensatory stage, without complications such as ascites or hepatic encephalopathy, and when there is hypoproteinemia, he can take some protein powder to supplement protein appropriately. However, if patients with cirrhosis are in the decompensated stage and combined with hepatic encephalopathy, blindly supplementing protein will lead to the aggravation of the symptoms of hepatic encephalopathy, so it is not suitable to eat a large amount of food with high protein content. If cirrhotic patients are in the decompensated stage and are unable to consume foods with high protein content to supplement protein, albumin can be appropriately infused. However, this needs to be done after the doctor has assessed the patient’s physical condition.
