When an eyelash is half broken, it grows back. Like hair, eyelashes have a process of self-renewal and metabolism. The reason why patients continue to go to the hospital to have their eyelashes removed after a while is because they grow back on their own. Therefore, as long as the eyelash follicles are not destroyed, the cycle will continue over and over again, and the lashes will grow back to their original length in 2 to 3 months. In other words, after plucking, the lashes will grow after a week, basically 1-2mm per week, and will grow back to their original length in about 10 weeks. The reason why some patients need to go back to the hospital 2-3 months after having their eyelashes removed has a lot to do with this growth rate. After growing to a normal length, it can last for about five months before falling out on its own and then starting the metabolic cycle all over again.
