The full name of TBLB is transbronchoscopic lung biopsy, which is commonly referred to as percutaneous lung aspiration biopsy. Transbronchoscopic lung biopsy involves extending a biopsy forceps through the biopsy hole of the bronchoscope to the peripheral part of the lung where there is a lesion, taking a biopsy of the lung, and then performing a pathological examination to clarify the nature of the lesion. Biopsies are taken of peripheral lung lesions, either isolated or diffuse, either blindly or under ultrasound or X-ray guidance. Biopsy of pulmonary lesions under ultrasound or x-ray guidance has a higher positive rate and a higher probability of correct diagnosis.
