Peritoneal dialysis is a type of renal replacement therapy that uses the conditions of one’s own peritoneum to perform renal replacement therapy. The placement site of peritoneal dialysis is mostly chosen in the median or lateral abdominal area, because of the special structure of the median position and the fact that the peritoneal tube can be placed inside or under the rectus abdominis muscle, which is good for fixation on the one hand, and because of the rich blood flow, the fibrous tissue can well wrap the peritoneal dialysis tube and prevent leakage on the other hand. Routinely, peritoneal dialysis tubes are placed mostly through the paramedian or lateral abdominal area, with the exit site as far away from the patient as possible, trying to choose a position that is more comfortable for the patient and avoiding areas where the patient has scars or folds. After peritoneal dialysis placement, especially within the last 1 week to 1 month, patients are expected to receive good care to prevent infection at the peritoneal placement site.
