Methods of bunion recovery

The main options for bunion recovery are: choosing the right shoes, using toe splitting devices and orthopedic appliances. The treatment of bunion needs to be individualized.
Patients with mild deformities and symptoms can be treated non-surgically. The development of bunion can be slowed down by wearing shoes that are loose at the front and reduce the friction and compression on the inner side of the toe. To treat bunions, toe splitting devices and orthotic appliances can be used.
Mild bunions can be corrected with silicone toe splitting pads between the 1st and 2nd toes of the foot, or with toe splitting shoes or socks, or with bunion orthotics, bunion orthopedic shoes, or flat-footed insoles.
In cases where conservative treatment fails, pain and deformity are severe, surgery may be performed to correct the deformity, relieve pain and restore appearance.
