The causes of voice loss are more complicated and the recovery time cannot be generalized. For patients with vocal cord paralysis due to congestion and edema of the mucous membrane of the vocal cords caused by excessive use of the voice, resulting in inability to completely close the vocal cords during pronunciation and thus loss of voice, bed rest and drinking more water can alleviate the congestion and edema of the vocal cords, which can generally gradually return to normal in about 1 week. If the patient is suffering from acute laryngitis caused by bacterial infection, resulting in congestion and edema of the mucous membrane of the laryngeal cavity, resulting in the inability to pronounce the voice, antibiotics are needed to strengthen the treatment, and the original vocal folds and vocal line can be restored in about 1 week. If the patient’s voice is lost due to inflammation of the vocal cords, anti-infection and repair of the damaged vocal cords are required, and the recovery time is relatively longer. Therefore, patients are advised to avoid excessive use of the voice in their working life and to avoid eating spicy and irritating foods to avoid vocal cord congestion and edema, which can lead to voice loss.
