Yam is the dried rhizome of Dioscoreaceae plant Dioscorea spp. It is flat in nature and has the effects of benefiting qi and nourishing yin, tonifying the spleen, lungs and kidneys, astringing spermatozoa and stopping leucorrhoea, and is mainly used for treating deficiency of the spleen with low food intake, loose stools and diarrhea, coughing and wheezing in the lungs, spermatorrhea in the kidneys and leucorrhoea. It should not be used by people with dampness (too much dampness causing fullness and discomfort in the spleen and stomach) or with stagnation.
Pueraria Mirifica is the dried root of Pueraria Mirifica, family Leguminosae, which is cool in nature, and has the effects of relieving muscle heat (relieving heat from the surface of the skin), generating body fluid to quench thirst, transmitting rashes, elevating yang and stopping diarrhea, promoting meridians and activating collaterals, and relieving the toxicity of alcohol, and is mainly used in treating exogenous fever and headache, thirst in febrile illnesses, impermeable measles, febrile diarrhea, hot diarrhea, diarrhea of a deficient spleen, hemiplegia in strokes, and vertigo. The contraindications of taking Pueraria Mirifica are not clear at the moment.
Corn is the mature seed kernel of corn, family Gramineae, which has the function of regulating the middle and opening the stomach, diuretic and swelling, and can be used for the treatment of spleen and stomach weakness, edema. Contraindications for consuming corn are not clear.
