How to wear the correct waistband?

There are more stringent requirements for patients who are suitable to wear waist circumference. (1) Choose the “circumference” according to the disease. For different conditions, choose the appropriate variety of waist circumference. Such as light lumbar disc herniation and recovery patients, should be preferred to plaster lumbar circumference, followed by leather or canvas lumbar circumference. Post-operative patients with lumbar disc herniation require the use of a lumbar girth. Therefore, it is best to consult a doctor first when choosing a lumbar girth. (2) Waist girth specifications should be adapted to the height and circumference of your own waist. Never use too narrow waist circumference, so as not to overly convex lumbar vertebrae; also do not use too short waist circumference, so as not to abdomen too tight. Generally can try to wear about half an hour, to no discomfort is appropriate. (3> Waist circumference wearing time and the condition to adapt. When the waist symptoms are heavy, if there is no discomfort, you can often wear it, do not take it off at any time; when the condition is mild, you can use the waist circumference intermittently; when sleeping or resting, you can lift the waist circumference; after the symptoms subside, you should remove the waist circumference and gradually resume the normal activities of the waist. Generally, it is appropriate to use the waist brace continuously for 6-12 weeks. (4) Waist activities should be controlled after wearing the waist circumference. Since the lumbar girth only restricts the activities in the direction of forward flexion and backward extension, and cannot reduce the longitudinal gravity, attention should still be paid to avoid excessive lumbar activities, generally to complete daily activities and work tasks. For patients with severe lumbar fractures, dislocations and postoperative recovery, the lumbar activities should be strictly controlled according to medical advice. (5) Some patients with light or recovering lumbar pain can gradually increase lumbar back muscle exercises during the wearing of lumbar girth under the guidance of physicians to prevent or reduce adhesions and atrophy of lumbar muscles. It is worth being vigilant to also prevent patients from being overly dependent and obsessed with lumbar girth and using it inappropriately for long periods of time. The use of lumbar girth for too long can also cause disuse atrophy of the lumbar back muscles and abdominal muscles, substantially reduce the mobility of the lumbar intervertebral joints and lumbosacral joints, make the waist stiff and weak, atrophied muscles and ligaments cannot adapt to various activities without the protection of the lumbar girth, and may also cause recurrence of old injuries or new injuries. Therefore, the time to wear the waist circumference, as with the neck collar, the longest period of time is not more than 3 months. It should never be worn for a long time and become dependent.
