Hyperhidrosis is a phenomenon of increased generalized or localized sweating, and the etiology of hyperhidrosis is complex. It can be broadly classified as psychogenic or pathogenic. Psychogenic factors are mostly seen in excessive mental tension and anxiety; pathogenic ones mostly suffer from underlying diseases such as hyperthyroidism, diabetes or hypertension, and even include infections and fever. For the treatment of hyperhidrosis, we believe that if it is pathological, the first step is to treat the underlying disease, such as treating hyperthyroidism, pregnancy, and diabetes in order to effectively relieve the symptoms. For local treatment, we mainly consider local application of certain topical medications, such as certain antiperspirants that can be applied, including 20%-25 aluminum oxide solution. In addition, we can also apply iontophoresis or botulinum toxin injections to destroy the local sweat glands or inhibit sweat secretion from the sweat glands.
