What does it mean to have a protruding cervical mucosa?

Cervical mucosal protrusion generally refers to the existence of cervical ectropion, erosion-like changes in the patient’s cervix, in the clinic is common in the cervical columnar epithelial ectasia, cervicitis, cervical pre-cancerous lesions, and so on.
1. Cervical columnar epithelial ectasia: this symptom is a common clinical physiological phenomenon, mainly due to the elevated level of estrogen in the female body, commonly found in puberty, pregnancy and childbearing women, as well as women before the onset of menstruation. This symptom will cause the columnar epithelium of the endocervix to turn over to the cervix, and then the cervical mucosa will appear protruding during the examination.
2. Cervicitis: this disease is one of the common gynecological diseases, mainly due to bacterial, viral and other pathogens, or the patient’s long-term lack of attention to pubic hygiene, excessive cleaning of the vagina, resulting in disorders of the vaginal flora and other factors. This disease may cause the patient’s cervix to appear ectropion and erosion-like changes, thus suggesting that the cervical mucosa is protruding during the examination.
3. Cervical precancerous lesion: this disease is also known as cervical squamous intraepithelial lesion in clinic, which is mainly due to human papillomavirus infection, and has a high risk of cancer.
The clinical symptoms of patients with precancerous cervical lesions are generally not obvious, but white epithelium, erosion-like changes, local erythema, etc., can be found in the cervix during medical examination, and some patients can be manifested as protruding cervical mucosa.
