How to treat a hard bump under the ear

The causes of hard pouches behind the ears include local inflammation, formation of adenomas, tumors, etc. The treatment of hard pouches due to different causes varies. Hard pouches caused by local inflammation are painful to feel, but they also need to be identified by a medical professional. Patients can be treated by applying anti-inflammatory creams, such as mupirocin ointment and erythromycin ointment, etc. In severe cases, oral anti-inflammatory drugs, such as cephalosporin and amoxicillin, are also required. If behind the ear, sebaceous cysts or fibroids are formed, the painful symptoms are usually not too obvious unless inflammation also occurs. If the cysts are small in size and have no special symptoms, they can be left untreated for now, but if they are larger in size or have symptoms of infection such as pain and pus flow, they need to be treated by surgical removal. If the hard pack behind the ear is a malignant tumor, systemic examination needs to be performed immediately to observe whether metastasis occurs. If the tumor behind the ear alone, it needs to be removed surgically as soon as possible and treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy after surgery to avoid metastasis of cancer cells.
