Red spots on the face of newborn babies are mainly caused by diseases, and common causes include allergies, neonatal erythema, birthmarks and so on. 1. Allergy: Some families have inherited allergies that can lead to red spots on the child’s skin, such as the child’s parents suffering from atopic dermatitis can be passed on to the child. If the mother of the child eats spicy and stimulating food or allergens such as high protein diet during breastfeeding period, it can cause allergic reaction of the child, thus leading to red spots on the face. 2. Erythema neonatorum: Erythema neonatorum is a skin condition characterized by erythematous papules that appears in newborns within two weeks after birth, and may be related to the hormone levels in the mother’s body. It is often characterized by erythema of varying sizes and uneven distribution all over the body, and most of the children can heal on their own. 3. Birthmarks: Birthmarks may be caused by increased melanin or vascular malformations, and are mostly related to heredity and abnormal sebaceous gland development. Children with birthmarks often show red spots and nodules on the skin. Children should go to the hospital immediately when they are not feeling well.
