It is not recommended to take probiotics while taking the quadruple therapy for gastritis, as the antibiotic component in it affects the activity of probiotics and does not always produce good results. However, probiotics can be applied at the end of the quadruple therapy course to improve the dysbiosis caused by the application of antibiotics. Gastritis quadruple therapy refers to the anti-Helicobacter pylori infection “2 antibiotics + 1 bismuth + 1 proton pump inhibitor” drug therapy, so the therapy contains antibiotic ingredients, if used together with probiotics will be weakened to a certain extent, resulting in a reduction in the efficacy of probiotics. Therefore, it is not recommended to take probiotics together with quadruple therapy. It should also be noted that in quadruple therapy, each antibiotic is prohibited for those who are allergic to it, and diarrhea, rash and other adverse reactions may occur during the process of medication; bismuth is prohibited for patients with renal disease and pregnant women, and adverse reactions include nausea, constipation and so on; proton pump inhibitor is prohibited for those who are allergic to it and have severe renal insufficiency, and adverse reactions include headache, vomiting and so on. The contraindications and adverse effects of probiotic preparations are not clear. Therefore, those who are diagnosed with gastritis must be guided by a doctor to carry out quadruple therapy and the use of probiotics, do not blindly use drugs or increase or decrease the amount of drugs on their own, in order to avoid inappropriate intervention, resulting in adverse consequences.
