Causes of temporomandibular joint popping

Any popping in the TMJ is due to an anterior displacement of the resorbable articular disc. The articular disc is a very important structure in the TMJ. The articular disc is normally in the middle of the joint head and fossa, and if you make a mouth opening movement, it moves forward with the joint head. If there is an anterior displacement of the disc, i.e., when the mouth is opened, the disc resets, and if there is a reversible anterior displacement of the disc, it pops backward with a snap and pops back into the socket. If you are closing your mouth, you will also hear a clicking sound at the end of the closure, the sound of the articular disc popping, which is the principle of popping. When the joint disc is displaced anteriorly, the patient must not be too nervous, the incidence of the disease is very high, but as long as attention is paid to joint protection, don’t eat too hard things, try not to open the mouth as little as possible, pay attention to warmth, don’t be too nervous, avoid fatigue, don’t stay up too late, will make the disease to be self-healing.
