Ways to stop nosebleeds

A small amount of nosebleed may be caused by nose picking, or due to deviated nasal septum, atrophic rhinitis and other diseases, which need to be treated according to the specific disease, and general measures, medication, surgical treatment and so on can be taken. When the bleeding is heavy, firstly, we should take pressure and cold compress to stop bleeding, and at the same time, we should carry out symptomatic treatment and causative treatment. 1. Symptomatic treatment: If it is a mild bleeding from the anterior nasal cavity, patients can pinch the nose bilaterally with fingers for about 10~15 minutes, and apply furosemide nasal drops, hydroxymetazoline and other hemostatic drugs. You can also take anterior nostril tamponade, posterior nostril tamponade, electrocoagulation hemostasis and other ways to stop bleeding. 2. Treatment for the cause: for deviated nasal septum, surgical treatment, such as submucosal correction of nasal septum, nasal septum three-line reduction surgery. For atrophic rhinitis, you can use hexestrol, 50% dextrose and other drugs to point the nose, and commonly used physiological seawater nasal spray to keep the nasal cavity moist. If conservative treatment is ineffective, surgical treatments such as anterior nostril closure and nasal muco-subperiosteal embedding are needed. Nosebleeds can also be caused by coagulation disorders, etc. It is recommended that the patient go to the hospital for consultation to clarify the specific causes and follow the doctor’s instructions to standardize the use of medication and treatment.
