The TCM diagnosis and typing of Tourette’s syndrome in children include External Wind (wind evils felt outside nature) Induced Symptoms, Liver Hyperactivity and Wind Induced Symptoms, Phlegm and Fire Disturbing Symptoms, Spleen Deficiency and Liver Exuberance Symptoms, Yin Deficiency and Wind Induced Symptoms, and so on. External wind-induced symptoms are characterized by strange or obscene sounds in the throat, winking and blinking, which are aggravated after catching a cold, often accompanied by nasal congestion and runny nose, red throat and sore throat, or fever. Liver hyperactivity and wind-driven syndrome is characterized by shaking head and shoulders, winking, pouting and kicking, frequent and powerful twitching, shouting from time to time, high-pitched voice, impatience and irritability, poor self-control, accompanied by dizziness, headache, redness and redness in the face and eyes, or abdominal movement and coercive pain (coercive and rib pain), and dryness and yellowing of the bowels and urine. Phlegm-fire disturbing the spirit syndrome manifests as strong muscle twitching, phlegm sounding in the throat, strange and obscene voice, occasional dizziness, dreamy sleep, fond of fat and sweet foods, irritability, bitter and dry mouth, constipation, short and reddish urine (urine is small in volume and dark yellow in color). Spleen deficiency and liver exuberance syndrome manifests as weak twitching, sometimes light and sometimes heavy, blinking and frowning, pouting and twitching of the nose, twitching of the abdomen, strange noises coming from the throat, mental lethargy, yellowish color, loss of appetite, thinness and urgency, restlessness in bed at night, irregularity of stools (abnormalities of stools), and a pale tongue. Yin deficiency and wind-driven evidence manifests as squeezing the eyebrows, shaking the head and waist, shaking the limbs, dry throat and clearing the voice, thinness, impatience, two cheekbones flushed, five hearts hot (two hearts and two feet hot, and consciously hot heart and chest), sleep disturbances, and dry stools. When the above symptoms appear in children, they should go to the hospital in time, and it is recommended that they be treated under the guidance of a professional physician to identify the symptoms, and not blindly self-medication.
