The herb Huang Jing is used to tonify qi and nourish yin, strengthen the spleen and stomach, and tonify the lungs and kidneys; it is useful in treating symptoms such as deficiency of qi in the spleen and stomach, deficiency of yin in the stomach, dry cough in the lungs and yin, coughing and hemoptysis with exertion, and internal heat and thirst (internal fever accompanied by the symptom of excessive eating, drinking and urinating).
Huangjing is the dried rhizome of Dian huangjing, Huangjing or Huangjing multiflora of the lily family. It is sweet in flavor and flat in nature. It belongs to the spleen, lung and kidney meridians. It has the function of tonifying qi and nourishing yin, strengthening the spleen and stomach, tonifying the lungs and benefiting the kidneys; it has the function of treating deficiency of qi in the spleen and stomach, weakness and fatigue, deficiency of yin in the stomach, dry mouth and little food, dry cough in the lungs and yin, coughing and hemoptysis with exertion, deficiency of essence and blood, weakness and soreness of the waist and knees, premature whitening of the beard and hair, and thirst and internal heat.
It can be used with Radix Codonopsis and Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae for the treatment of tiredness and fatigue, and lack of desire for food and drink; it can be used with Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, Semen Pei Mu, and Rhizoma Zhi Mu for the treatment of dry cough and phlegm in the lungs and kidneys; it can be used with Lycium barbarum, Radix et Rhizoma Murrayae, and Radix chasteberry for improvement of liver and kidney deficiencies, lack of essence and blood, dizziness, soreness and weakness of lumbar and knees, and premature graying of hair.
Note: Not suitable for those with spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction, phlegm-dampness obstruction, stagnation of qi and abdominal distension, adverse reactions are not clear. If you need to take Huang Jing, it is recommended to consult a healthcare professional.
