It is possible to have recurrent swelling with a fracture of the base of the fifth metatarsal in the right foot.
Fractures of the base of the fifth metatarsal in the right foot are mostly caused by trauma, with sprains of the ankle being the main cause of the fracture. After the fracture, localized bleeding and swelling, as well as obstruction of venous and lymphatic return can cause swelling of the foot.
Under normal circumstances, the swelling of the foot will subside in 7-10 days. If the affected limb hangs down for a long time during the recovery process, the affected side of the foot will still be swollen. The swelling will gradually subside by lying down and resting with the foot elevated. This condition may recur during early functional exercise.
If you have a fracture of the base of the fifth metatarsal, you must go to a regular hospital and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment, do not do it on your own to avoid delaying the condition.
