There is currently no Chinese patent medicine in the form of pills for Sixteen-flavored Flowing Qi Drink, but this formula has been recorded in Zhi Ji Wei Yi (至機微義).
It is recorded in Zhi Ji Wei Yi (至機微義), that Sixteen-flavored Flowing Qi Drink consists of ginseng, angelica sinensis, astragalus membranaceus, platycodon grandiflorus, antifungus, woodruff, glycyrrhiza glabra, citrus aurantium, peony, chuanxiong rhizoma, cinnamon, betel nut, dahurica dahuricae, thick parkia papyrifera, perilla frutescens, and ophiopogonium.
It is often taken with decoction of water. It is used in the treatment of anonymous swelling and poison, carbuncle (a kind of poisonous sore, acute purulent disease occurring on the surface of the body, limbs and internal organs), etc., and the pulse is flooding, sinking and tight.
