Whether or not a psychiatric patient can receive the new coronavirus vaccine needs to be decided according to whether or not his/her condition is under stable control. If a psychiatric patient’s condition is under stable control, he/she can receive the vaccine, and vice versa, vaccination is not recommended. If psychiatric patients have stable health condition and are well controlled by medication, this group of people is not contraindicated for new coronavirus vaccination, and active vaccination is recommended. If the patient’s condition is unstable, he/she can wait until his/her condition is stabilized before vaccination. However, vaccination is not recommended before the condition is well controlled. Vaccination should be contraindicated in people who are allergic to any of the components of the new coronavirus vaccine. Redness, swelling and pain at the vaccination site may occur after vaccination, and there are also adverse reactions such as malaise and fever. Patients with mental illness should consult a medical professional for proper evaluation before vaccination; after vaccination, they should be observed for changes in their condition and adverse reactions to the vaccine, and seek prompt medical attention if any abnormality occurs.
