What causes high monocytes

Slightly high monocyte counts may be physiological (most common in infants or children) or pathological, such as infections or blood diseases.
Monocytes mainly play a defensive role in human tissues, and their high values are mainly related to physiological and pathological reasons, the common pathological reasons are as follows:
1. Infections: such as malaria, infective endocarditis, recovery from acute infections, tuberculosis, and so on. In acute mononuclear cell increase is mostly due to viral infection, long-term elevation is mainly considered to have chronic inflammatory infection.
2. Hematologic diseases: chronic granulomonocytic leukemia, mononuclear cell leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, granulocyte deficiency in the recovery period.
Slightly high monocytes in infants or children. The monocytes are slightly high in the exclusion of physiological reasons, timely to the hospital for examination, clear the real cause of the disease, targeted treatment.
