The need for surgery for a hernia in a one and a half week old baby will depend on the condition. Surgery may or may not be needed.
A hernia is a condition in which an organ or tissue in the body leaves its normal anatomical site and enters a neighboring site through a weak point, defect, or foramen formed either congenitally or later in life.
In children with umbilical or inguinal hernias, surgery is not necessary if the child’s abdominal muscles can grow stronger as the body grows and the hernia may disappear on its own.
If an umbilical hernia or inguinal hernia becomes incarcerated, surgery is required.
It is recommended that a week and a half baby hernia, should go to the hospital in a timely manner to do the relevant examination, to clarify the cause of the disease, and then follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment, to avoid delaying the condition.
