Seasonal correlation of acute urinary retention in prostatic hyperplasia

Zhang, 70 years old in Jiangsu, has experienced difficulties in urination in recent years, often getting up four or five times at night. In winter, the above problem is even more serious, greatly affecting the quality of life of the old Zhang in his old age, so that the old Zhang is troubled. The other night, the old man’s stomach distended and painful, urine can not be discharged, rushed to the hospital, diagnosed with prostatic hyperplasia caused by acute urinary retention. The actual fact is that you can find a lot of people who are not able to get a lot of money from the internet. The enlarged prostate gland suddenly becomes congested and edematous, which leads to urethral obstruction and develops into acute urinary retention. Acute urinary retention is sudden, painful, tossing and turning, and sometimes some urine overflows from the urethra, but it does not relieve the pain in the lower abdomen. During physical examination, a hemispherically distended bladder is visible in the suprapubic region, and there is a clear urge to urinate when pressed by hand, and a solid sound on percussion. Based on the medical history, clinical manifestations and physical examination, the diagnosis is not difficult. Is the occurrence of acute urinary retention in prostatic hyperplasia related to the seasons and climate change? Patients with prostatic hyperplasia usually show difficulty in urination. In winter, when sweating is low, coupled with the stimulation of the cold climate, the prostate is prone to bladder outlet obstruction and sudden inability to urinate occurs. The study shows that the incidence of acute urinary retention in prostate hyperplasia varies seasonally: the highest incidence occurs in January during the winter season, and as the climate warms in the winter and spring, the incidence of acute urinary retention begins to decline in March during the early spring, and falls to a low in June during the early summer, and then increases again as the climate becomes colder, reaching another peak in December during the early winter. This indicates that there is a seasonal correlation between the incidence of acute urinary retention in patients with prostate enlargement. This is why it is important for prostate enlargement patients to prevent the occurrence of acute urinary retention in winter. The first thing you need to do to prevent acute urinary retention is to take care of your prostate with your own initiative. The first thing to do is not to hold your urine, but to urinate as soon as you feel like it; eat a light diet, less smoking, less alcohol, less spicy food; keep your mind relaxed; don’t sit on a cold seat; prevent a cold, and be careful with anti-cold drugs containing paracetamol. When acute urinary retention occurs in prostatic hyperplasia, some patients press the abdomen with a view to help urination, which not only fails to improve urination, but also causes complications such as hernia, internal hemorrhoids, prolapse, varicose veins of the lower limbs. Patients with combined hypertension are nervous, which can also easily lead to an increase in blood pressure. Therefore, once acute urinary retention occurs, it is necessary to actively seek medical attention and treatment to remove the cause, release the obstruction and restore urination in principle. The catheter can be inserted to discharge the urine retained in the bladder, which can only solve the urgent problem. For patients with recurrent urinary retention and ineffective medication, surgical treatment is often required. The traditional open surgical method of removing the prostate is now rarely used, and transurethral electrolysis of the prostate is now a common treatment, but in recent years a new minimally invasive surgical method has emerged, namely transurethral holmium laser prostate enucleation. The actual fact is that the Holmium laser prostate enucleation is safer, more thorough, less traumatic, less complications, quicker recovery, and more effective than the electrodes, and is expected to become the “platinum standard” for the treatment of prostate hyperplasia. The actual fact is that you can find a lot of people who are not able to get a good deal on this.
