What are the best drugs for H. pylori

The current recommended first-line regimen for the treatment of H. pylori is quadruple therapy, according to international medication guidelines. That is, a proton pump inhibitor plus bismuth plus two antibiotics for a total course of 10-14 days, followed by four weeks off the drug and another review to clarify whether H. pylori has been successfully eradicated. The recommended proton pump inhibitor is rabeprazole 20 mg orally twice a day or esomeprazole 20 mg orally twice a day, and the recommended bismuth is colloidal bismuth 200 mg orally three times a day. The most commonly used antibiotics are amoxicillin and clarithromycin, the recommended dose of amoxicillin is 1g twice a day and clarithromycin is 500mg twice a day by mouth. Patients should be advised to follow the medical advice to use the medication according to the regularity and not to stop or reduce the dosage by themselves, etc. in order to avoid that the H. pylori is not eradicated due to untimely or wrong timing of oral medication.
