If nail fungus disease occurs it must be treated against the fungus, for example, the nails must be kept clean and dry while avoiding any irritants, and a light diet must also be adhered to, and antifungal medications must be applied for topical as well as oral treatment. Anti-fungal drugs used include amorolfine rub, ketoconazole, econazole, etc. for application, and itraconazole and other anti-fungal drugs can also be applied orally. If a bacterial infection occurs, it must first be treated with anti-infective therapy, such as tetracycline or macrolide antibiotics. If a fungal infection occurs, the treatment cycle must be adhered to for at least 2-4 weeks to prevent easy recurrence due to incomplete efficacy of the antifungal treatment.
