The Black Death is plague, and in the case of confirmed or suspected plague, close isolation and in situ treatment is organized. Treatment should be symptomatic and supportive. During the acute phase of the disease, bed rest is required to maintain heat supply and adequate fluids. For patients with high fever, physical cooling medications are used. In case of irritability or significant pain, sedatives may be used. Patients with very severe symptoms can be treated with glucocorticoids for a short period of time, but during treatment, it is important to treat with effective antibiotics at the same time. In case of significant respiratory distress, respiratory therapy is administered. Also plague bacilli can be treated with antibacterial drugs such as streptomycin and doxycycline.
