Intermittent pins and needles pain in the back of the ear

Intermittent pinprick-like pain on the posterior side of the ear, if the local skin on the posterior side of the ear is normal, is mostly due to reflex pain caused by lesions in the adjacent organs. Intermittent pins and needles pain on the posterior side of the ear can be accompanied by bacterial or viral infections of the periauricular region, auricle, external auditory canal, tympanic membrane, and inner ear; pain caused by temporomandibular joint infections, periodontal disease, root disease, and obstructed teeth can involve pain on the posterior side of the ear; chronic pharyngitis, in addition to causing pain in the throat, can also be reflected to the posterior side of the ear, causing pins and needles pain.
