How long after rabies vaccination can you drink alcohol

Rabies vaccine takes one month if administered through the five shot method. Alcohol is not recommended during rabies vaccination shots, i.e., do not drink alcohol during the one-month vaccination period. This is because heavy alcohol consumption can lead to immune imbalance and immune disorders in the body, interfering with the rabies vaccine’s effectiveness in producing rabies antibodies. Data from numerous prevention studies indicate that drinking alcohol during the rabies vaccination period is detrimental to health. Excessive strenuous exercise is also not recommended, and drinking coffee and strong tea is not favored. Rabies vaccination is safe and generally most people do not have adverse reactions. Only a few people may experience fever, redness and swelling at the injection site, and hard nodules after vaccination, but these adverse reactions will get better on their own. Alcohol should not be consumed during the application of the vaccine, as it may have some effect on the vaccine and may induce or aggravate the side effects of the vaccine. Alcohol needs to be metabolized in the body, and there is a possibility that other organ functions may be affected in this process. Patients should go to a regular hospital or vaccination station to receive rabies vaccine within 24 hours after being bitten by a dog. If the wound bleeds, first squeeze the blood outward, rinse the wound for 30 minutes using running tap water and wash the wound with soap, and then disinfect thoroughly with 75% alcohol. It is recommended to try not to bandage the wound and keep it locally dry and hygienic.
