Internal injury to the spleen and stomach leads to all kinds of diseases

The famous Jin Dynasty physician Li Gao (Dong Yuan) put forward the famous idea that “internal injury to the spleen and stomach causes all diseases”. The theory is derived from the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine, which states: “The grain gas passes through the spleen, the six meridians are the rivers, the intestines and stomach are the seas, and the nine orifices are the water-injected gas. The nine orifices are the main organs of the five organs. All the five organs can get the gas of the stomach to be able to pass through” and “People are based on the spleen and stomach, and people are born with the gas of water and grain” and other discussions. In the centuries after the Jin Dynasty, although a few physicians disagreed with Li’s doctrine of internal injury to the spleen and stomach, most of them affirmed and promoted it.1. The important role of the spleen and stomach: (1) After birth, all nutrition comes from the water and grain essence transported by the spleen and stomach, and the innate essence hidden in the kidneys also depends on the nourishment of water and grain essence. (2) The water and grain essences transported and absorbed by the spleen and stomach become one of the basic substances for the production of Qi and blood after entering the body. (3) The essence of water and grain has to be transported and distributed by the spleen and stomach in order to be popular to the internal organs and nourish the whole body, therefore, there is a saying in Chinese medicine that “the essence of the five viscera and six internal organs are all endowed by the spleen”. 2. Evidence caused by deficiency of the spleen and stomach: (1) abnormal elevation of qi: under normal physiological conditions, the spleen rises and the stomach descends in an orderly manner. Once the Spleen and Stomach are damaged, diarrhea, prolapse, dizziness of the head and eyes, adverse effects on the nine orifices, etc. can be seen, and Yang Qi does not rise. (2) The orifices of the head and face are the external orifices of the five viscera. If the spleen and stomach are deficient, the qi and blood of the five viscera are insufficient and cannot be promoted to the head and eyes, so the ears, eyes, mouth and nose are all diseased. (3) A deficiency of the spleen and stomach will definitely affect other internal organs, such as: if the spleen and stomach are deficient in qi, there will be a great loss of blood, and if the blood is reduced, there will be nothing to feed the heart; if the stomach is deficient in qi, there will be nothing to feed the lungs; if the spleen and stomach are deficient, the qi of the damp earth will slip under the umbilicus, and the kidneys and bladder will suffer from evil; if the stomach is deficient, the bile and small intestine will be deficient in the warmth and growth of qi; if the diet is not regular, the stomach will be deficient in qi, and the large intestine and small intestine will not be endowed, so the fluid will dry up. (4) deficiency of the spleen and stomach, insufficient vital energy, on the one hand, external evil is easy to invade, on the other hand, it is easy to appear the evidence of “injury drink”, “injury food”.3, conditioning the spleen and stomach need to pay attention to: (1) diet in moderation, avoid overeating, drinking alcohol should be small (2) life should be regular. (3) the seven emotions in moderation, control anger and good patience, and get along with the surrounding environment and people in harmony (4) eat a comprehensive diet, do not be partial, adjust the recipe, go to spicy food instead of light, and limit the food paste and thick taste (5) pay attention to dietary hygiene, eat less cold food, do not eat unclean food, and do not share meals with people suffering from infectious diseases.
