There are more studies on fertility in women with chronic hepatitis B. The US FDA has a clear classification of various antiviral drugs and clinicians are basically in agreement. However, there is a lack of relevant articles on the effects of antiviral drugs on male fertility, thus causing great confusion to the majority of patients and medical personnel in clinical practice. However, the 2010 Chinese Expert Consensus on Special Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B clearly states that patients applying interferon should consider fertility only after 6 months of drug discontinuation. There is no evidence of adverse effects of nucleoside (acid) analogue therapy on sperm and fetus for those who are using nucleoside (acid) analogues, and fertility should be considered under the premise of effective communication with patients.
