The farsightedness reserve of children refers to the fact that when a person is born, the eye is in a farsighted state because the eye axis is not fully developed. As the person grows older, the farsightedness will gradually decrease until about eight years old, when the eye develops into an orthophoric state, at which age a visit to the optometrist may already show zero degrees, and all the farsightedness before that time is called the farsightedness reserve. The farsighted reserve is a great help to the development of the eye. If a child has poor eye habits, such as spending too much time in close proximity or having too much exposure to electronic products like computers and cell phones, it may lead to premature development of the eye axis, thus causing the child’s farsightedness reserve to decrease. In other words, the child may be nearsighted, and the degree of myopia is close to 100 degrees.
