Separation of hair follicles The excised whole scalp or tissue obtained with the FUE technique is separated into grafts under a microscope or with the naked eye as needed for transplantation. The use of a microscope results in high quality grafts and reduces the rate of damage to the hair follicles. For experienced hair separators, separation under the naked eye can also achieve relatively satisfactory results, mainly because Asian hair is black compared to Caucasian, which is easy to identify because of the contrast in color with the tissue around the hair; secondly, the average density of Asian hair is lower than that of Caucasian, so there is relatively more room for cutting and separation operations.
